Inclusivity drives innovation, and the semiconductor and AI industries are no exception. This session highlights the achievements of leading female professionals in the field, celebrating their contributions while addressing the importance of creating a more inclusive environment. Through personal stories and discussion, speakers will explore how to foster greater female leadership and inspire the next generation of talent in these critical sectors.
Suzanne Oliver
Director, IP Strategy | Scintilla IP
Suzanne is a Chartered Engineer with an Electronics and Computing background, as well as a European Patent Attorney. In 2023 she joined Scintilla as Director, IP Strategy. Prior to this, Suzanne managed ARM’s global patents team, supporting a diverse range of IP strategy matters for ARM. She has held the position of President of the UK IP Federation, of which she is now an Honorary Fellow. Suzanne was a national award winner for her EDI work in 2018. She now works with many high growth deep-tech start-ups, both helping them to define their IP strategy, but also with business mentoring.
Janet Collyer
Panel Member | UK Semiconductor Policy Advisory Panel
Janet Collyer MBE is Chair of the Board at two UK technology startups, Quantum Dice and Mach42 and is Independent NED at the Aerospace Technology Institute. She also serves on the UK government’s Semiconductor Advisory Panel.
After her engineering degree she did semiconductor IC design in USA and UK then moved to roles in application engineering, product management, global services and sales of IP, hardware and software.
Prior to her portfolio career she held senior positions within the semiconductor industry most recently as Strategic Group Director at Cadence Designs System leading international teams, driving bespoke approaches and effective ecosystem partnerships that delivered business revenue growth across the semiconductor supply chain. She mentors women engineers as they progress through the ranks through to C-suite.
Janet was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2025 New Year’s Honours list. In April 2025 the Electronics Weekly Women Leaders annual event gave her a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Laura Foster
Associate Director - Technology & Innovation | techUK
Laura supports the application and expansion of emerging technologies, including Quantum Computing, High-Performance Computing, AR/VR/XR and Edge technologies, across the UK. As part of this, she works alongside techUK members and UK Government to champion long-term and sustainable innovation policy that will ensure the UK is a pioneer in science and technology
Before joining techUK, Laura worked internationally as a conference researcher and producer covering enterprise adoption of emerging technologies. This included being part of the strategic team at London Tech Week.
