Semi Impact Forum 2024 -
Catalonia Chapter
Strengthening Catalonia’s Semiconductor Ecosystem through Taiwan’s Supply Chain Innovation and Strategic Collaboration
ACCIO Auditorium, Barcelona, Spain
December 9th, 2024
ABOUT SEMI IMPACT FORUM 2024 - CATALONIA CHAPTER
As the European semiconductor ecosystem evolves, Catalonia is leading the charge, leveraging its strengths in innovation and collaboration. The Semi Impact Forum - Catalonia Chapter focuses on three pivotal themes: Lab-to-Fab, Go-to-Market strategies for Catalan companies working with Taiwan, and training the next generation of semiconductor talent in Catalonia.
The forum will delve into how Catalan companies can successfully navigate the fab landscape—from prototype to mass production—drawing on Taiwan’s renowned expertise. Professor Konrad Young, former Director of R&D at TSMC, will offer practical insights on the Lab-to-Fab journey, helping companies understand the complexities of semiconductor fabrication and how to prepare for scale.
In addition, the forum will feature top innovators, startups, and researchers from Catalonia and Taiwan (Taiwan National Applied Research Laboratory), showcasing cutting-edge advancements in AI and supercomputing. Together, we’ll explore opportunities to foster collaboration and drive innovation in these transformative fields.
Join us as we connect industry leaders from Catalonia and Taiwan to share knowledge, spark new partnerships, and unlock growth opportunities for the Catalan semiconductor ecosystem.
- Featuring in-depth conversations with our special guests, this forum will cover topics from the global semiconductor landscape, the Catalonia & Europe’s position, Taiwan’s role, and semiconductor innovations fueled by startups.
- Showcasing exciting semiconductor innovations in AI and Supercomputing sectors.
- Exploring the latest technology trends and discuss opportunities for collaboration and growth in the semiconductor industry.
- Unlike other semiconductor conferences, Semi Impact aims to facilitate collaboration-driven, in-depth interactions among industry leaders and innovators between Taiwan and Europe.
SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER OF HONOR
We are thrilled to invte Professor Konrad Young as our dream headliner speaker for Semi Impact Forum 2024 - Catalonia Chapter. Professor Young was former director of R&D at TSMC and one of the six pioneering R&D leaders who laid the groundwork for TSMC's success. After leaving TSMC, he joined SMIC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation), the largest state-owned semiconductor foundry in China, before moving to Intel, another semiconductor giant, as a senior advisor.
Professor Konrad Young
National Taiwan University
Director & Fellow, Arculus Lab
Professor Young's unique experiences across the semiconductor landscapes in Taiwan, China, and the US make him the ideal speaker to discuss the future of semiconductors in Europe, especially in light of TSMC's expansion into Germany.
Currently, he is teaching leadership at National Taiwan University and has a special passion for nurturing innovation and startups. He is frequently consulted on Taiwan’s semiconductor-related policy and innovation initiatives. In addition to his academic role, he leads Arculus Lab, the lab-to-fab division of MicroIP, a leading IC design company.
- Featuring in-depth conversations with our special guests, this forum will cover topics from the global semiconductor landscape, the Catalonia & Europe’s position, Taiwan’s role, and semiconductor innovations fueled by startups.
